Textile Art & Hand-embroidered Cards

Who am I?
I'm an almost 70-year-old artist. I've done some kind of needlecraft for decades, from a young age: embroidery, cross-stitch, tapestry, crochet. My family tree is littered with creatives skilled in embroidery and other needlecrafts, including men, such as my father and his father! So, it was only natural that I would follow. However, I mostly did needlecrafts as a hobby, until 2022, when I had the idea to create embroidered designs for greetings cards.

I started with using silk (from old scarves and cushion covers) and other fabrics, as well as Japanese craft tissues. But then I moved onto using prints of old digital artwork. Now I mostly using prints of simple watercolour and mixed media abstracts, on 120gsm white hammer paper. My designs include seed beads and metallic thread, and sometimes sequins.
In 2025, I started working on textile art designs in embroidery hoops, using recycled / repurposed silk, cotton fabrics and other fabrics, such as organza. A selection will soon be on sale at a local art gallery - Westgate Galleria - see below
